With every season we take special steps of preparation, but many of us forget a very important detail - fire safety. I am honored to help people find their new home and I dedicated to make sure that my customers, clients and almost any one a meet knows about fire safety.  Alabama rates among the highest in death by fire, so due to this fact and other incidents over the last few years I have decided to work closely with Mobile Fire and Rescue.

My first experience with the Mobile Fire and Rescue team was witnessing a demonstration by Kent Landsberg, who goes to Mobile county schools to educate children about fire safety. I was shocked at the reaction from the pre-school children when they were introduced to a fireman in full fire gear; they were frightened, ran from him, and hid. I thought to myself...what would my children do?

Along with this experience I also witnessed a neighbor's home burning the day after hurricane Katrina. This inspired me to take action in the education of fire safety. I realized that it was my responsibility as a visible member of the community to do anything that I could to help the Mobile Fire and Rescue team educate the youth of our community about the importance of fire safety. After all, what is the price of one child using the information and getting to safety.  Priceless.

That is why this year; along with teaching about fire safety we are also teaching helmet safety. I am holding a "Helmet Safety Sticker Contest" to help the children get excited and participate in safety education. If your child would like to participate please read over the information and feel free to print out an entry form, or contact me and I will send one out to you.
